KENNEBEC PERFORMING ARTS COMPANY

THE AUGUSTA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The Augusta Symphony Orchestra

and the

Kennebec Performing Arts Company

SOME BACKGROUND

The Kennebec Performing Arts Company and The Augusta Symphony Orchestra  share the same proud lineage. Both organizations descended from the original  Augusta Symphony which was formed nearly a hundred years ago.

In the summer of 2004 KPAC and the Augusta Symphony made a decision to separate their organizational structures  in order that each may concentrate on it’s own genre of music. Several talented musicians participate in both organizations and the groups maintain a very strong and mutually beneficial working relationship.

The name, Kennebec Performing Arts Company, KPAC,  was chosen to represent the many communities from which its performing members come as well as the variety of musical styles presented.

The Augusta Symphony Orchestra, ASO, also presents a variety of musical styles but  maintains a focus on the full orchestra.
